Aventura San Leonardo
* Location
Hacienda San Leonardo, Achaguas district.
* How to get there
By air or land to San Fernando de Apure. From there, by
road in double-traction vehicles, or by boat on a fluvial route to the camp, a journey of
5 hours, which can only be made July to December.
* Characteristics
Located in the heart of the Capanaparo zone, a place of
great contrasts where, according to the season, the purest expressions of the floods and
droughts of the plains can be observed. The area is rich in typical flora and fauna. Land
excursions are offered in 4-wheel-drive vehicles through the savanna and, in motor-powered
dug-out canoe or regular boats, along the Capa-naparo River and Caņo Alambritos. Guides
that speak various languages specialized in observation of flora and fauna provide
information necessary to understand which species which abound there. A river fishing
package is also offered, in season, when characteristic species of the area are plentiful.
* Recomendations
Bring clothing geared toward the hot climate.
Long-sleeved shirts, comfortable shoes, and long pants are most practical, mosquito
repellent, camera, binoculars, etc.
* Facilities
Lodging in 7 cabins with capacity for 14 people in double
rooms and 21 in triple rooms, with private bath, ceiling fan, screen-covered windows.
Caney-restaurant and well-equipped kitchen. Churuata-bar and comfortable furniture where
visitors can relax. Swimming pool, bolas criollas, and field for shooting indigenous-style
bows and arrows. Well-maintained landing strip for small planes with a length of 1,280
m
