Camps by State

FALCON  STATE CAMPS

Camp: Llano Largo

* Location
Sierra de San Luis, via Curimagua, near Coro.

* Characteristics
The main house is full of objects that show the passing of time
(typewriters, keys, plaques, music machines, etc.) As well as family
attention. It offers tourist guides, directed recreation, radio communications
equipment and an infirmary with first aids. Home style and criollo food.
Optional activities outside the camp, such as historical tours, trips to the
mountain and the beach, visits to the médanos (sand dunes), etc. The
way the hosts treat you is very special, as the camp is run by young people
willing to make your stay agreeable. Situated some 30 minutes from Coro,
this place has a privileged location. As it is at the foot of the Sierra de Coro
it has easy access to rivers, thermal waters and cascades, as well as beaches,
médanos and the colonial city of Coro, historical world heritage. Price
includes lodging, 2 meals and excursions. In the holiday season it offers
special vacations for children and youngsters.

* Recomendations
Bring cool clothes, hat or cap, camera, sun glasses and a sweater, as it
cools down on evenings.

* Facilities
The hacienda (ranch) consists of an old family home and several wooden
cabins with different capacities, with air conditioning or ceiling fans,
communal bathooms, care-of well taken, near the cabins. It also has green
areas for resting and recreation, a pool with a small slide and suspension
bridges, mini-zoo, etc.

Camp: la Cumara

* Location
Near Cumarebo, in Km. 230 of the Coro-Puerto Cabello road.

* How to get there
By land following the route that joins Coro with Puerto Cabello. By air, to
Coro and then by road.

* Characteristics
This camp is for guests to experience the adventure of camping. It is in a
privileged environment, even though it is located in a green zone, you can
go down to the beach through mountains of sand dunes. The breeze and sea
air fill the environment, especially during full moon, when they celebrate
the moon party. They offer regional trips for those who want to visit Falcón
State. Prices are reasonable and, within the simple accomodation range, it
is an acceptable alternative.

* Recomendations
Appropriate clothes, sun screen, hat or cap, camera and everything
necessary for camping.

* Facilities
The camp has 4 cabins, though the possibility to camp in tents in safe
places is perhaps more interesting. Cabins have a capacity for 3,6 and 9
people, and only the biggest has its private bathroom. The rest share
internal and external showers, the latter to take off the salt water after the
beach. Everything is very rustic. They also rent tents and hammocks. It has
a pool with a bar shaped like a boat and a café.

Camp: Campo Lindo

* Location
Near Morrocoy national park (15 minutes), on the Chichiriviche side, in
Sanare.

* How to get there
By land following the highway which runs between Moron and Coro, at
Km. 81.

* Characteristics
This farm is located in the savanna between the mountains and the beach,
near the beauty offered by Morrocoy national park (see page 155). Using the
camp as a point of departure, one can climb mountains, swim at the beach,
watch birds, participate in activities on the farm, in other words, anything
to relax and enjoy nature. Bird watchers have a ball in the Cuare Wildlife
Refuge, home to thousands of herons, scarlet ibis, ducks, flamingoes, and
other migratory birds. It is calculated that here one finds 70Tlf. of the
Venezuelan avifauna species and 50Tlf. of the migratory species. Price
includes lodging, all meals, open bar with national beverages, transfer to
the islands of Morrocoy national park. For foreign tourists, the price
includes ecological excursions with bilingual guide and horseback riding;
for resident tourists (with price reduced accordingly) these activities are
offered as options after finding that many local Venezuelans prefer to spend
all of their time at the beach. Transfers can be provided at additional cost.
Children up to 2 years old free; from 3-11, 50Tlf. discount. Cash only.

* Recomendations
Identification documents, sun screen, hat or cap, mosquito repellent
indispensable around sunset and when the breeze ceases, comfortable shoes,
lightweight clothing, camera, binoculars, bathing suit, beach towel, etc.

trees, flowers, trails for walks to the hills nearby, etc.
