park.

* How to get there
By air or land to Carúpano. Then by road Güiria, near Bohordal.

* Characteristics
This was one of the first successful experiments in agroecology in the
country, through the inspiration of its founder Wilfred Merle. It is located
in a swampy savanna dedicated to the raising of water buffalo and, thanks to
the rational management of a system of reservoirs, it is maintained
permanently green which allows the subsistence of very special avifauna.
Here, absolutely everything is done in the spirit of conservation. The camp
has solar energy installations, a plant of biogas using buffalo excrements,
they do not use pesticides or chemical fertilizers, etc. It has an extension of
1,000 ha. of which 540 are usable. There are some 800 buffalo which feed
on reeds. In addition to riding buffalo, one can take excursions by canoe on
the caños, fish, watch birds, contemplate life, etc. The most commonly
seen animals here are bespectacled cayman, frogs, white heron, cormorants,
jabiru, and an extensive variety of migratory birds. An amphibian vehicle
transports visitors through the swamp to the caños of the delta of the
Orinoco River in the northern section. As a complement, there are
excursions to places such as Macuro, where Columbus first set foot on the
American continent, a typical cocoa hacienda in Agua Santa, the botanical
gardens in El Pilar, to Paria Peninsula national park and to the beautiful
beaches of the north coast of the peninsula. This is one of the most
interesting projects in ecological agrotourism you will find. Price includes
transfer Carúpano-camp-Carúpano, lodging, breakfast, lunch, and dinner,
national beverages; excursions to Playa Medina, Agua Santa, along the
canals, riding buffalo, and horseback riding.

* Recomendations
Identification documents, sun screen, mosquito repellent, camera, light
clothing appropriate for the area and climate, binoculars and swim suit.

* Facilities
Located at the beginning of the marshlands, the camp has 5 circular cabins
with 2 beds and a bathroom, rudimentary but comfortable, windows
protected by screens, illuminated by kerosene lanterns, plus an open,
well-ventilated churuata-dining room, meal and bar service, etc.

Camp: Playa Medina
* Location

On the north side of the Paria peninsula.

* How to get there
By air or land to Carúpano. Then by road via Río Caribe.

* Characteristics
This must be the closest thing to the image of paradise humans have
created. After descending a steep mountain, one comes upon the Caribbean
Sea in a paradisial cove, with grass and sand, surrounded by hundreds of
coconut palms, facing tranquil tropical waters. Everything here is peace,
tranquility, harmony, rest, ideal for thinking and reflection about oneself
and life, far from the stressful contamination of the rest of the world. Beach
and sun all day long. The more adventuresome can take part in a number of
excursions to nearby places of interest such as Hato Río de Agua, the Agua
Santa cocoa plantation, guided visits to the forests of the area, boat rides to
other beaches further to the east - solitary, virgin, and... well, everything
imaginable in this branch of true paradise in Sucre state. Your impressions
can be jotted down in the visitors book where one encounters phrases such
as "we came out of curiosity, we leave out of obligation," "up until now I
have only seen a place like this in photographs," "simply incredible." It
includes transportation Carúpano - Playa Medina - Carúpano, 3 meals,
national beverages, beach service, and excursions, only by reservations.

* Recomendations
Identification documents, sun screen, mosquito repellent, camera, light
clothing appropriate for the zone and climate, binoculars, bathing suit.

A beautiful beach setting with 8 cabins (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living
area, porch) and 2 smaller cabins for 2, with hot water, fan, refrigerator,
stove, hammock on the porch, lounge chairs, etc. A tidy, simple, and very
good restaurant with home cooking, open bar with view of the bay and
friendly, attentive, and cordial service.

Camp: Playa Pui Puy
* Location
In the Paria peninsula, around 5 km. from Playa Medina.

* How to get there
By air or land to Carúpano. Then by road via Río Caribe-Pui Puy.

* Characteristics
It is located on a beach of white sands, approximately 2 km. long, with
coconut and other very tall trees in front of the sea. There is a constant
breeze coming from the sea, for that reason the beach is good for
windsurfing.

* Recomendations
Identification documents, sun screen, repellent, camera, light clothes, coats
for the night.

area. They have a maximum capacity for 4 people and only one of them has
7 beds, a matrimonial room and bathroom. Cafeteria that offers seafood,
camping area, parking, bohío (indigenous-style structure) to hang
